Our wines

Earth first. Then the care of the vineyard, as the grapes grow heavy and bow toward the earth, maturing naturally, without any force.

It’s all a matter of balance, of waiting for the passage of time and the seasons. We’re lucky: the lay of the land in our 10 hectare vineyard, the arrangement of the pergolas and rows allows us to work with the grapes as soon as we harvest them, making our work in the wine cellar easier. We get the best out of every bottle, because we do everything ourselves: we make Trentodoc sparkling wines by the traditional method, encapsulating the spirit of Trentino in every one of them; we age our reds in barriques for 4 to 20 months, and ferment our whites in steel.

In short, Balter wines demand great rigour, precision, intuition and patience.
Here they are: we’re proud to introduce you to them.

TRENTODOC sparkling wines

Balter Riserva millesimato

Balter Trentodoc

Our thirty-year-old pergola-trained vineyard provides the Chardonnay grapes that go into our Riserva Balter sparkling wine – in only the best years! The cuvée involves addition of Pinot Noir just prior to tirage, to obtain that complexity that adds the right touch of expressiveness after long ageing on the lees.

Balter Brut s.a.

Balter Trentodoc

This is our blanc de blanc, combining Chardonnay grapes from different fields. We draw on the tradition of the Trentino pergola, allowing ourselves to be inspired by French style with very dense guyot training. The variety of the countryside and our attentive care make for a versatile, elegant wine. After resting at least 30 months on the lees, Balter Brut is perfect for tasting on any occasion.

Balter Rosé s.a.

Balter Trentodoc

Skilful use of the lees in tirage gives our rosé a fine perlage, while its antique rose colour is the result of overnight maceration in the press, and its low residual sugar level opens up a vast range of possibilities for enjoying the wine. Balter Rosé is a wine that continues to amaze the nose and the palate, sip after sip.

Barbanico
IGT VALLAGARINA

Barbara and Nicola are Franco’s children, and if you put their names together, you get “Barbanico”: a wine we started making before we even opened our winery! Barbanico now has a Lagrein base with the harmonious addition of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. We make each wine separately to bring out all the personality and expression of each grape. This is followed by lengthy ageing in barriques, continued in the bottle to produce a full-bodied, prestigious, well-balanced wine.

  • Gentle destemming
  • Daily manual punching down and delestage
  • Maceration on the pomace for 8 to 12 days
  • Ageing in barriques for 12-15 months
  • Ageing in the bottle

Sauvignon

IGT VIGNETI DELLE DOLOMITI

This white is the perfect example of our philosophy in the vineyard: balance, elegance, and expression of aromas representing the land we come from. In the mouth, it is fresh and aromatic with mineral notes, a result of the vineyard’s altitude, the influence of the wind blowing over Lake Garda, and the sun shining on the countryside to the south.

  • Fermentation in steel
  • Overnight maceration in the press to extract aromas
